What is the difference between HDPE pipe and PE pipe?
HDPE pipe is a kind of PE pipe. The difference between it and ordinary PE pipe is that HDPE pipe must withstand a certain pressure. Usually, PE resin with large molecular weight and good mechanical properties, such as HDPE resin, is selected. The strength is 9 times that of ordinary polyethylene pipe (PE pipe); among all engineering plastics, HDPE has the highest wear resistance of plastics. The higher the molecular weight, the more wear-resistant the material, even more than many metal materials (such as carbon steel, stainless steel, bronze, etc.), ordinary PE does not have this feature.
HDPE pipes are the replacement products of traditional steel pipes and PVC drinking water pipes, and ordinary PE pipes cannot. HDPE pipes are mainly used for: municipal engineering water supply systems, indoor water supply systems in buildings, outdoor buried water supply systems and residential quarters, buried water supply systems in factories, repair of old pipelines, water treatment engineering pipeline systems, gardening, irrigation and other fields of industry water pipes, etc. Medium density polyethylene pipe is only suitable for conveying gaseous artificial gas, natural gas and liquefied petroleum gas. Low density polyethylene pipes are hoses.
